40th SURGE Cab Found
Will has been keeping us up to date on his quest to find out information regarding each and every SURGE Cab given away by Coca-Cola and its bottlers back in 1997. These fine Checker Cabs have a special meaning to him of course as he is the owner of Cab #22.
A surprise popped up this week when he located Cab #40. Previously, it was thought that only 39 cabs were given away during the promotion. The best part is that, if you have $4,000, the car can be yours!
You can check out Cab #40 at:

Thanks to Will for the info!
LiveWire Returns; Berryclear Sprite Remix Debuting
Last year’s summer sensation, Mountain Dew LiveWire, has once again returned to stores for the season. One can make the case that since Pepsi has “brought back” this popular brand extension they are making a calculated move to do something that Coca-Cola has not yet done with our beloved SURGE. Whatever their reason, I have to give out some rare credit to Pepsi for giving the people what they want.
As was discussed during LiveWire’s first run last year, people on the SaveSURGE.org Bullentin Board are discussing whether or not Coke should just make SURGE a seasonal beverage. This is not a bad idea for a few reasons:
1. If Coca-Cola bottlers don’t want to make a long-term commitment to SURGE, this offers them a chance to make the product available without a large investment.
2. SURGE Fans can stock up on their favorite soda while it’s out and not worry because they know it will be back for another run next year.
Obviously, we’d love to see SURGE back year-round but any return to the shelves is welcomed.
Meanwhile a new version of Sprite Remix called Berryclear has begun to hit stores in the past few weeks. SaveSURGE.org Hall of Famer Shepard Ritzen wrote in with his thoughts on the new soda and said: “It lived up to its name. It was clear, and it tasted like raspberry. Actually, the smell was most like raspberry, and it was better than the taste. Sprite - to me - always has this ‘dirty’ aftertaste, and the raspberry ‘remix’ did not mask the lemon/lime sprite taste.”
While I have not seen Berryclear in my area yet, I can only hope that it’s better than Tropical Sprite Remix which came out last year.

Poll Results – LiveWire is back, but SURGE is still #1
The latest SURGE Poll asked you: Are you excited about Mountain Dew Livewire returning for the summer?
53.7% - Who cares? Without SURGE, there is no reason to care...
35.8% - Yes, I love that orange taste
10.3% - No, no Pepsi products for me
Total Votes: 106
LiveWire is tasty and it’s nice to have it back, but in the end NOTHING can compare to SURGE!
That’s all the time we have for this week. Have a great holiday weekend and let’s keep the dream alive.
Sincerely,
Eric Karkovack
