Frustrated with Coke?? Take Action
SURGE fans are quickly becoming known as the most passionate beverage fans out there. I find myself to be no exception. That’s why, even though I am happy to know that Citra is coming back (as Fanta Citrus), I couldn’t help but feel frustrated that Coca-Cola still has given no indication on whether or not SURGE will return.
This site has been online for just over 2 years and during that time Avery & I have been amazed at how hard you have all worked to bring back your favorite soda. Certainly, Coke has to be amazed because, after all, they most likely figured that no one cared about SURGE’s demise before this campaign started in 2002. Yet, after all of our work, Citra is the one they bring back???
Instead of drowning my sorrows in a non-soft drink, I decided to take some action. I purchased some Soda Activist postcards from the SaveSURGE.org store and I sent 12 of them out to Coke Headquarters in Atlanta and bottlers across the nation. It felt good because I made the choice to not take the neglect of SURGE fans lying down.
The best part is that each and every one of you can do the same. You don’t have to buy the postcards and you don’t even have to pay for a phone call. Call Coke’s toll-free number (1-800-GET-COKE) and you’re taking action for free! It only takes a few minutes of your time and if enough of us do it, we just may see SURGE back on store shelves one day soon.

URGE in the USA Update
George from Soda Favorites updated the status of bringing URGE to the USA this week over on the SaveSURGE.org Bulletin Board. He now has a contact who visits Norway from time to time and is working on getting a case of URGE right here in the USA.
Once that URGE is here, Avery & I will be among the very lucky taste testers! The taste testers’ job is to determine whether or not URGE really is the same formula as SURGE. Or, at least if the taste is close enough that is worth importing large amounts.
We’ll keep you updated as more information becomes available.

SURGE Fans Showing Creativity
SURGE fans are not only the most passionate beverage fans out there, they are also the most creative. This week we received some great additions to our For the Love of SURGE section:
-Heather sent in two graphics, one of which shows proof that SURGE is on Mars!
-Salvadore saw signs of SURGE during his trip to Las Vegas
-Christie and Mike each submitted some great new User Submitted Logos.

We Started a Trend
Over the past couple of weeks we have noticed that there is a new campaign out there to save Pepsi Blue. The smurf-colored drink didn’t even last as long as SURGE, but still found some dedicated fans. This week, www.savepepsiblue.com went online and is looking to convince Pepsi that Blue deserves another chance. We wish them the best of luck!
Poll Results – No Fanta Rush
This week’s SURGE Poll asked you: Do you think that SURGE will come back under the Fanta name, like Citra did?
Do you think that SURGE will come back under the Fanta name, like Citra did?
59% - No
40.9% - Yes
Total Votes: 105
It was a very close vote but the majority of you feel that SURGE doesn’t quite fit under the Fanta name. Truly, SURGE has its own identity and I think it would be best to keep that name alive.
That’s all the time we have for this week. Thanks for your continued support!
Sincerely,
Eric Karkovack
