Happy Halloween SURGE fans
and welcome to the 70th edition of SaveSURGE News! Our dedication
to SURGE is just plain scary.
Sightings Report
There were no new SURGE Sightings reported since the last edition
of SaveSURGE News.
Sadly, there were 2 deletions in Bloomington,
MN (sorry Avery!) and Johnson City, TN.
Currently, there are 151 SURGE Sightings listed.
Thanks to each and every one of you who looks out for SURGE wherever
you go!

Coke Interview Update
As of this writing, we have not heard any news on the status of
our interview with Coca-Cola. When we do receive that information
you will be the first to know!
Hall of Famers to be Inducted on 11/01/03
Make sure to check out the site on the afternoon of Saturday, November
1 to meet the latest inductees into the SaveSURGE.org Hall of Fame!
This will be our third ever round of inductions and let me say that
we've found no shortage of dedicated SURGE fans worthy of being
in the Hall.
If you didn't get in this time, don't worry! The
next round of inductions will be on 2/1/04 (SaveSURGE.org's second
birthday!). We will begin accepting applications once again on 11/01/03.
If you've filled out the nomination form in the past, you're already
entered!

Roland Needs SURGE for
the Summit
Our friend Roland is a very dedicated SURGE fan living all the way
over in South Africa. He wrote in this week to tell us of a very
special trip he has coming up.
He wrote, "
this next school term, I
am going to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro, I was hoping to drink a can of
Surge at the summit to show my support, and then I would get a picture
taken and send it to you, but I don't have a can of Surge."
Wow! Not only is Roland planning to climb one of the most famous
mountains in the entire world, he also would like to celebrate the
moment further by drinking down a nice cold SURGE. That's what I
call a true love of SURGE.
If any SURGE fans out there would like to donate
a can of SURGE to Roland, please contact us at surge@savesurge.org
and we will put you in contact with him.
Roland also informed us that he will be visiting
America this December. Best of luck on your journey to both Kilimanjaro
and the USA!
SaveSURGE.org Unannounced Contest Debuts
On
Thursday, October 30 the SaveSURGE.org Unannounced Contest made
its debut, giving SURGE fans a chance to win a free mini poster!
The contest went online at approximately 3PM EST
on Thursday (the idea for the contest came at approximately 2:45PM
on Thursday) and lasted a little over an hour.
The premise of the Unannounced Contest was simple:
We ask you a trivia question and the first person to correctly e-mail
us the answer is the winner. Here's the question we asked you this
time: "What Day, Month and Year did SaveSURGE.org first go
online?"
SURGE fan "~Tsik" was the first to send
in the correct answer of February 1, 2002 (2/1/02). Those of you
who frequent the SaveSURGE.org
Bulletin Board probably know him well! The answer was listed
on our FAQs page and in a few past issues of SaveSURGE News.
Thanks to everyone who participated in the contest!
We had fun with it and will definitely be running another Unannounced
Contest sometime in the not-so-distant future.
SaveSURGE.org Flyer Revamped
You
asked for it, we delivered! The SaveSURGE.org Flyer has now been
revamped and re-written to help spread the word even better. The
SURGE logo was added to help capture people's attention and the
text was re-written to get our message across more clearly. Now,
get out there and start posting those flyers (please get permission
first)!
Check out the new flyer at: http://www.savesurge.org/surge/help_flyer.shtml
Poll Results - How do I fit an 18-wheeler in
my garage?
The latest SURGE Poll asked you: If you found SURGE in your local
grocery store today, what would you use to carry it home?
35.9% - 18-wheeler
24.6% - Cargo plane
23.2% - Grocery bag
16.1% - Little red wagon
Total Votes: 142
Although I'm not sure if the 18-wheeler is actually
larger than a cargo plane, either way you're getting a nice stash
of SURGE!
That's all the time we have for this week. Have
a very happy and safe Halloween!
Sincerely,
Eric Karkovack
