Hello once again SURGE fans and welcome to the
60th edition of SaveSURGE News! Since February 1, 2002 - we're still
fighting to save the soda you love.
September will be National SaveSURGE Month
September 2003 will be the month where we will make out biggest
push yet in the fight to Save SURGE! Details are still being worked
out but we do know that there is going to be a giant list of Coca-Cola
facilities from across the USA on the site, as well as ways for
you to contact several large restaurants and stores that have had
SURGE in their fountains. We're going to call, we're going to write
and generally make their lives miserable (but in a nice, polite
way) until we get some answers.
Stay tuned to SaveSURGE News & the site for
details.
Sightings Report
There have been 2 new SURGE
Sightings reported since the last edition of SaveSURGE News.
They are in: East Longmeadow, MA & Orlando, FL. That Orlando
Sighting is very interesting as it's at the Islands of Adventure
theme-park, which was deleted from the list a few months back. It
looks to be available in the Green Eggs & Ham Café, so
enjoy!
The big list took it right on the chin this week
as there were a whopping 9 deletions. They were in: CT, IL (2),
MN, NY, PA, UT, WA & WI.
Currently there are now 163 SURGE Sightings listed.
Thanks to all of you who look for SURGE wherever you go!
SaveSURGE Business Cards by Puckdropper
Puckdropper is one of the most dedicated SURGE fans out there and
he recently had the great idea of making some printable business
cards. You can personalize them, cut them out and hand them to store
managers, send them along with your Coke letters and tons of other
ways to spread the word! This adds a really nice touch to any correspondence
you have with someone about our beloved SURGE.
You can download the sheet of cards by selecting
SaveSURGE Business Cards
from within the How You Can Help menu, located at the top of every
page. Special thanks to Puckdropper for making this all happen!
Is Coke Refusing to Sell
SURGE Syrup?
As we reported in the last
edition of SaveSURGE News, there are many rumors flying around
regarding SURGE. We've heard how it could be coming back under a
new name, how it may be coming back with the same name and how it
may be gone for good.
Some of the people at Sightings that were deleted
this past week have told SURGE fans that they were no longer allowed
to purchase the syrup for their fountain. This conflicts with Coca-Cola's
"company line" that SURGE syrup is still available for
bottlers who wish to purchase it. So, what's going on?
It's hard to believe that Coke would completely
stop the production of SURGE syrup as they are famous for keeping
small brands alive for decades (Tab, Fresca, etc.). Perhaps this
is some validation to the rumor that SURGE will indeed come back
under a new name. Of course, Coca-Cola is also famous for being
very secretive about their plans for any beverage, so it looks like
we'll just have to wait and see what's in store for our favorite
neon-green soda. As always, keep visiting SaveSURGE.org for the
latest news.
Journal and Mini Poster added to the Store
Two new products were added to the SaveSURGE.org
Store this week:
-
SaveSURGE.org Journal: This colorful
spiral-bound notebook is 5"x8" in size and contains 80
pages of writing paper. It's a great way to spread the word, just
in time for that back to school rush! The cost is $7.49.

- SaveSURGE.org Mini-Poster
Print: We thought the design for the Journal was so cool
that we decided to make a poster out of it as well! This one is
11"x17" in size and is printed on high-quality glossy
paper. Best of all, it's only $4.99 making it one of the most affordable
products Café Press has to offer!

Remember, we do not profit one penny from anything
sold from the SaveSURGE.org Store. We simply bask in the glow of
watching you spread the word!
Poll Results: It's all good - as long as it
tastes the same
This week's SURGE Poll asked you: If SURGE came back with a different
name, how would you feel?
53% - Great! As long as it tastes the same.
46.9% - Sad, in a way. I'd like it to stay the same.
Total Votes: 98
Not surprisingly, this is one of the closest votes
we've ever had. It's understandable that many SURGE fans want the
name to stay and that others just want the taste to stay the same
regardless of what it's called. As long as we can taste that sweet
citrus taste again, it's a victory for us all.
That's all the time we have for this week. Thank you SURGE fans
for continuing the fight to save the soda we all love!
Sincerely,
Eric Karkovack
