Bring URGE to the USA
We at SaveSURGE.org are continuing our efforts to bring SURGE's
Norwegian cousin URGE to the USA. We're trying (and you are doing
a great job) to convince the folks over at Real Soda that importing
URGE would be a great move. We've set up a special topic on the
Real Soda message board dedicated to URGE:
http://www.realsoda.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=26
We've definitely gotten Real Soda's attention
as there are now four pages of people wanting URGE, but we have
to keep up our efforts in order to win them over. If you haven't
already signed in to the message board, please do so now!
Youth Under Fire Prefer
SURGE
We
at SaveSURGE.org love to give props to bands that rock. Youth Under
Fire is an Indie Rock/Emo band from the Utica, NY area (visit their
site at: http://www.youthunderfire.go.to
and also visit their MP3.com site at: http://www.mp3.com/youth_under_fire)
who are very talented and very dedicated to SURGE. Their drummer
Justin recently wrote in and expressed the band's desire to help
Save SURGE in any way they can.
He said "
(our) guitarist happened to
come upon your site and we all agreed that this was something that
we just had to do, we have to support the cause". Justin also
went on to say that the band plans on "giving flyers out at
our shows to bring up Surge awareness".
A great big thank you goes out to Justin, Gabe,
Hussain, Mike & Brady of Youth Under Fire for their support!
Let us also give props to Hall of Famer Timb the Enchanter (http://www.enchantogen.com),
Trixie & the Misdemeanors (http://www.misinformer.com/trixie/),
The Pears (http://www.thepears.com)
and Denver (http://www.denversings.com)
for their great music and undying love of SURGE.
More Sprite Tropical Remix Opinions
"Ok, so Sprite Tropical Remix has a pretty decent taste and
feel to it, but I cannot show any love for it. All the money and
bottles and wrappers wasted on producing this half-effort refreshment
could be better used by Coke if they'd use them to mass produce
SURGE again! Why make new, not-so-good drinks, when they've got
the recipe for the GREATEST drink? That's all I got to say about
that!"

"Since Tim was brave enough to step forward
(in the last newsletter).... I liked Sprite Tropical Remix enough
to buy it a second time. I find it shockingly different. It reminds
me of better times, when I could pull a Surge off the shelf at any
convenience store and excite my taste buds with the green liquid.
Still, Tropical Remix is nowhere near Surge, the best soft drink
ever made."
-Jamie
Salvadore hated Sprite Tropical Remix so much
that he called Coke! He says "the new sprite has to be the
worst soda I've ever had in my life one sip and I dumped the rest
out I called coke and told them how terrible it was!"
Here's a transcript of his call:
"Coke: Hello This is coca cola how may i
help you today
Me: yes I have a comment about the new sprite
tropical remix
Coke: ok sir what is your comment
Me: yes I tried it and let me just say this is
the worst soda I've ever had in my life I took one sip and dumped
the rest out I will never buy this again under my free will on a
bet
Coke: I am sorry you feel that way sir
Me: ok
Coke: I will let management know that the product
is not liked in your area thanks for calling coke and have a nice
day
Me: Thank you and I hope no one will ever be subjected
to such toture as opening a bottle of sprite tropical remix
call end"
That rocks, Salvadore! Never be afraid to voice
your displeasure with inferior drinks and always let them know that
you'd rather be drinking a SURGE.
What's your opinion of Sprite Tropical Remix?
Let us know at surge@savesurge.org
and we will post your comments right here.
Ok, What About Mountain Dew LiveWire?
The e-mail was a little slower regarding the new Mountain Dew LiveWire
as we had just one comment:
"I Really like Livewire it is a nice change
from Code Red it is also a good chaser wit some Sothern Comfort
well thats my thoughts"
-Matt
Love it? Hate it? Let us know at surge@savesurge.org
Are You a Hall of Famer?
Just
a reminder that the deadline for nominations to The
SaveSURGE.org Hall of Fame is Monday, June 30, 2003. Do you
have what it takes to be a member of the Hall? Submit yourself or
a friend and find out!
There will only be two dedicated SURGE fans chosen
to join current inductees Timb the Enchanter and Shepard Ritzen
on 8/31/03. Your next chance to be enshrined won't be until February,
2004 so you'd better hurry!
Poll Results: More SURGE = More Sales
Once in awhile, we at SaveSURGE.org love to ask you a very random
(yet fully-loaded) question in our SURGE Poll. Our latest poll asked:
How much do you spend on soda each week?
75.9% voted Much more if SURGE were around!
11.1% voted More than $5.00
6.4% voted $2.50 - $5.00
4.6% voted $1.00 - $2.50
1.8% voted $1.00 or Less
Total Votes: 108
The results were obviously a little biased in
SURGE's favor, but who said there's anything wrong with that?!?
That's all there is for this week. Thanks again everyone and have
a very safe and happy Memorial Day!
Sincerely,
Eric Karkovack
