Welcome one and all to the 35th edition of SaveSURGE
News! Where it's all SURGE, all the time.
Sightings Update
--------------------------
There have been 8 new SURGE
Sightings since the last edition of SaveSURGE News. They are
in: CA, IL, IN (3), TX (2) & WI
Sadly, there were 4 deletions in: Herkimer, NY
- Tipton, IN (though a new location was found a day later) - Jackman,
ME and Hibbing, MN
Currently, there are 157 SURGE Sightings listed.
Thanks to everyone who's reported a Sighting!
K-Mart Closing 323 Stores
---------------------------------------
This week, K-Mart announced that a whopping 323 of their "under-performing"
retail stores will soon close their doors forever. Why should we
care, you ask?
We should care about these closings because our
friends in the "Blue Light District" are famous for carrying
SURGE in a great many of their fountain locations. For many fully-loaded
fans, K-Mart is a final refuge for those who are starved for that
green citrus goodness.
While we have not gone through the Big K-sized
listing of stores who are set to close just yet, there is no doubt
that these closings will significantly affect our list of SURGE
Sightings. More importantly, SURGE fans may have precious little
time to enjoy the soda they so dearly love (and need).
Therefore, we at SaveSURGE.org encourage you all
to go out and visit your local K-Mart, check out the fountain and
if you see some SURGE, grab it before it's too late. We also encourage
you to lobby any and all convenience stores, gas stations and restaurants
in your area who serve Coca-Cola products to start carrying SURGE
in their fountains.
Coke Redesigns Website
-------------------------------------
Earlier this month the Coca-Cola Company released a brand new design
for its website, www.coke.com.
While the site does indeed look spiffy, SURGE has once again been
left off of their "Featured Brands" list. However, our
favorite green beverage is still listed on the very large "All
Brands" section.
Incidentally, those of you looking for new content
on the Coca-Cola website will be disappointed. It looks as if they
just moved all of the older content into the new design.
School Rules for K.C. Cool
----------------------------------------
Say that one 10 times, real fast! Our good friend K.C. Cool wrote
to us earlier this month to share the story of the day when SURGE
visited his school. In fact, his story is so good that it's even
generating some response on the SaveSURGE.org Bulletin Board. Be
sure to check it out in our For
the Love of SURGE section.
It's Coming
--------------------
Something very big is coming to SaveSURGE.org on 2/1/03
Because
of its top-secret nature, we can't tell you what it is. All we can
say is to be sure you visit SaveSURGE.org on 2/1/03 and you'll see!
SaveSURGE.org Bottler of the Week
-----------------------------------------------------
With the NFL Playoffs in full-swing, let's give this week's award
to one of the cities representing football's "final four".
Everyone put your hands together for Tampa, FL and Coca-Cola Enterprises,
Inc - Florida!
Coca-Cola Enterprises Inc. -
Florida
1411 Huron St.
Jacksonville, FL 32205
Phone - 904-693-8189
Perhaps if they bring SURGE back to Tampa, Warren
Sapp's mouth would be too full for trash talking (just kidding,
Bucs fans)!
For your convenience we've provided a form letter
that you can just print, sign and mail in our How
You Can Help page.
Would you like your local Coca-Cola bottler to
be the next SaveSURGE.org Bottler of the Week? If so, e-mail us
your name, hometown, zip code and any bottler information you might
have (it's ok if you don't know who your bottler is, we should be
able to locate it for you) to us at: surge@savesurge.org.
That does it for this edition of SaveSURGE News. Thanks so much
for your support!
Sincerely,
Eric Karkovack
