SaveSURGE News

Hello once again and welcome to the 24th edition of SaveSURGE News. We're the world's most trusted source for all things SURGE since well, ummm, February of 2002! Hey, you gotta start somewhere, right?

Sightings Update
---------------------------
There have been 5 new SURGE Sightings since the last edition of SaveSURGE news. They are in: CT, FL (2), IN & ME.

There have been 2 changes to current Sightings in: Brownsburg, IN & Tulsa, OK.

Unfortunately, there have been 2 deletions in: Abingdon, MD & Turnersville, MD.

Thanks to everyone who sent in a Sighting!

Bottler of the Week
-----------------------------
Last week, we created a new feature for SaveSURGE News, called the SaveSURGE.org Bottler of the week. Each week, we'll post the name, address and phone number of a local Coca-Cola Bottler. Then, we ask that you write, call and make sure they know how much we all miss SURGE! Let them know that we will not rest until it's back on store shelves everywhere!

Cathy of Miami was kind enough to answer our call for nominations and her bottler has been crowned the SaveSURGE.org Bottler of the Week:

Coca-Cola Enterprises Inc. - Florida
1411 Huron St.
Jacksonville, FL 32205

Phone: 1-800-222-5469

This bottler even has a toll free number, so even if you don't want to spend money for a stamp, you have no excuse not to call! If you prefer to send a letter, check out the free sample letter we provided on SaveSURGE.org's How You Can Help page.

Congratulations Cathy! Hopefully, SURGE will make its triumphant return to Florida very soon!

If you would like us to feature your local bottler, e-mail your name, city, state, zip code and any bottler information you might have (it's ok if you don't know who your bottler is, we should be able to locate it for you) to us at surge@savesurge.org

SaveSURGE Goes Hollywood?
-----------------------------------------------
Nope, we don't wear sunglasses and drink $10 bottles of water, but we did make a snazzy new Flash animation for SaveSURGE.org's front page! I'm just going through the process of learning Flash and I thought I would use my favorite website as a guinea pig.

Avery Lund's - The Last Can
------------------------------------------
Hey everybody! I'm Avery the "other webmaster". Every week or so I'm going to post a short story, rant, or piece of knowledge. It will be called "The Last Can". This is a section that I hope people will help me make into a vital part of SaveSURGE.Org. Your input is very important to us. This week's edition will be a bit scattered so you look forward to a bit more focus in next week's.

This week I will focus on how we run SaveSURGE. Eric does 95% of all the stuff that you see on the site. In fact just to start let me say that what I do is nothing compared to the dedication of our other webmaster. I read the mail and respond to 90% of it. The only ones I don't respond to are the ones that are one liners or junk-mail. All of my responses no matter how short or how long are hand written. All said and done, the reading and responding to email which can take anywhere from 5-30 min a day. I also look around the web to find new features to include on the site. I also make MANY calls to Coke regarding SURGE. I have seen many of the other SURGE sites and they are dead. Not updated in years. SaveSURGE will not be like that. I feel more than anything that no matter what happens with SURGE we are still a community. I will work on this site as long as you keep visiting it. I have been working to help an HTML challenged friend make his site, SURGECentral. It is my goal to make it as easy as possible for everybody to be able to contribute to SURGE no matter what their skills and abilities are. I myself am no guru. Part of the reason for this section is to show you that we are people, just like you. We feel your frustration and anger. This column may not always be related to SURGE or even soda but it will be a place where you can get to know me as a person. And we can get to know you. Tell us about your job, your life, anything! Our new bulletin board is completely open. I made it that way so you can be free to speak your mind. Life is not just about SURGE. This is the place where we can all chat as friends. Look next edition of SaveSURGE News for a new column.

-Avery Barrett Lund

That's all the time we have for this week. Remember, life is better when you FEED THE RUSH!

Sincerely,
