Hi once again everybody and welcome to the 16th
edition of SaveSURGE News. We fight for SURGE, because SURGE can't
fight for itself!
HUGE Sighting News!
---------------------------------
Thanks to our devoted friend of SURGE, timb, we @ SaveSURGE.org
bring you the following announcement:
SURGE is still alive (do I hear Pearl Jam music
in the background?)!!!! We have received confirmation from Coca-Cola
as of 6/18/02 that the following bottlers have recently ordered
SURGE syrup:
Atlantic, IA
College Park, GA
Lenexa, KS
Hagerstown, MD
Silver Spring, MD
Twinsburg, OH
Wilsonville, OR
Hamburg, PA
Rapid City, SD
If you live in one of these areas, please write to your bottler,
thank them and ask them to keep bottling SURGE. Visit our How
You Can Help section for more info.
While this isn't a huge list of bottlers, it's
imperative that we let it be known to them just how much we love
SURGE. Every letter, every phone call, every e-mail makes a difference.
Thanks to timb for sending this information to
us!
Also in Sightings:
Orlando, FL was added this week while Longview, WA was taken off.
SURGE License Plate?
-----------------------------------
Yes, my friends, somebody out there loves SURGE so much that they
did indeed order vanity license plates! Tim from Cape Elizabeth,
ME (no relation to timb as mentioned above) sent in some great pics
of his Ford Taurus decked out in official SURGE plates. Be sure
to check them out in For the
Love of SURGE.
Summer SURGE Memories
-----------------------------------------
I remember it like it was yesterday. Actually, it was the Summer
of 1998. My friends and I had nothing to do and so we went cruising
virtually every night. And, virtually every night we stopped at
our favorite Uni-Mart for refreshment. Oh yes, you know where this
is going :)
SURGE was still in its glory and I was as loyal
to it then as I am today. I'd always pick up a 20oz. bottle each
time we stopped at the Uni-Mart. My friends would always say, "Man,
don't you drink anything else?". I'd always reply, "Why
should I?".
It really became something I took for granted.
Great times, great friends and a great soda. Being able to go into
any store I chose and being able to buy SURGE whenever I wanted
was just everyday life.
Who would have thought that four years later we
would be trying to save it? We have pulled together and written
letters, taken pictures, printed stickers and done all sorts of
great things because we believe in a common cause.
We care about what happens to SURGE and how it's
changed our lives. Some people may say that it's just a drink, and
how could that change anything? Well, I know it has changed me.
Not in some great spiritual sense, but somehow in it's own fully
loaded way, it made some of the best times in my life even better.
Just by tasting as great as it does, just by it being there. No
matter how many bottlers discontinue SURGE, they can never take
away my memories of it.
So, now that I've shared my ooey gooey feelings
for SURGE, I'm asking you to do the same! How has it changed your
life? Was there ever a moment in your life made better by SURGE?
Let us know by e-mail at: surge@savesurge.org
Well, that's all the time we have for this week's SaveSURGE News.
Thanks to everyone for their continued support!
Sincerely,
Eric Karkovack
