SaveSURGE.org Media Blitz Hits the Big-time
The SaveSURGE.org Media Blitz, our on-going campaign to spread the word about SURGE through the media, claimed its first victory this week. On Tuesday, March 22, the site was featured as one of the daily Hot Links on CollegeHumor.com (http://www.collegehumor.com – warning, this site contains some adult material! If you’re under 18, don’t visit!).
A tremendous amount of new visitors discovered SaveSURGE.org. Over 15,000 visitors were recorded on March 22 and over 7,000 on March 23! These rank as some of the best days the site has ever had.
Just think, even if a small percentage of those new visitors decide to participate in our campaign, it’s still a huge victory for our cause. That’s why we’re asking all of you to continue to write media outlets via the Media Blitz info on our home page, www.savesurge.org. Media exposure like this does wonders for our campaign!
By the way, this week we’ve also heard from another member of the media interested in doing a profile on SaveSURGE.org. They need approval from their organization prior to doing the story but if they receive that approval it could be a very good thing for SURGE fans! Let’s keep our fingers crossed.
Thanks to all of you who have participated in the SaveSURGE.org Media Blitz! Also, a big thank you goes out to CollegeHumor.com and whoever submitted our site to them.
Coke Applies for a Second SURGE Trademark
It was recently reported on the SaveSURGE.org Bulletin Board that Coca-Cola has applied for a new trademark for SURGE. The original trademark was applied for back in 1996 and the latest application was filed on March 3, 2005.
There has been much speculation about the meaning of this move by Coca-Cola. Does it mean we’re getting any closer to a SURGE comeback? We just don’t know at this point. However, SaveSURGE.org Hall of Famer R.M.J. is on the case! He is making efforts to contact the lawyer who filed this application to get the inside scoop.
Stay tuned to SaveSURGE.org for more information as it becomes available to us.
Drew to Make New SURGE Movie
First, SaveSURGE.org Hall of Famer Drew Bizzell created “Save Surge – The Movie”. Now, he’s in the process of filming another SURGE-related movie!
He recently told us that he decided to create this not-yet-titled film to help inspire SURGE fans. After the recent announcement that Coca-Cola turned down a chance to bring SURGE to Wal-Mart, he wanted to fight back.
We will have more information on Drew’s new movie as it becomes available. You can also visit the official site for the movie at:

Poll Results – Sell so we can buy!
The latest SURGE Poll asked you: If Coke won't bring SURGE back, what should they do for fans?
73.9% - Sell the formula to another company
19.3% - Import URGE from Norway
6.6% - Nothing
Total Votes: 299
In a landslide choice, SURGE fans want Coca-Cola to sell the formula to another beverage company. This wouldn’t be the first time a beverage company has done this, but to my knowledge it may be a first for Coke.
That’s all the time we have for this week. Thank you SURGE fans for your continued support!
Sincerely,
Eric Karkovack
