Hola Amigos & Amigas! It's now time for record
setting 13th edition of SaveSURGE News (but then again, each new
edition is a record!).
Everyone Loves a Sticker
-------------------------------------
As you may already know, SaveSURGE.org stickers came out last week
and the requests have come flooding in ever since! With their overwhelming
popularity clearly evident, these stickers are sure to raise public
awareness of SURGE's plight.
If you haven't already done so, request your sticker
today! There are only 500 in existence and many are already gone.
Just click on the banner on the www.savesurge.org
front page and fill out the form to get yours.
Already requested a sticker? Sit tight, a bunch
were sent out on May 18 and are heading your way as I write this
:)
Sightings and a De-listing
--------------------------------------
First the bad news...Garden State Beverage, which had a link on
our Sightings page, apparently no longer carries SURGE :( What really
makes this a shame is that they had previously sold SURGE in just
about every package available (1 liter, 2 liter, cans, 20oz bottles).
It's getting harder and harder to find our favorite citrus soda
in anything other than fountain form. Thanks to Chris for bringing
this to our attention.
Now, for the good news...4 more Sightings
have been added, including IL, MI, OH & PA!
So, despite the bad news, we are still seeing
our Sightings page grow each week, always a good sign.
Vanilla Coke Launches -
Does this mean the end for other sodas?
-----------------------------------------------------------
Vanilla Coke came out in many markets last week and is the biggest
product launch for Coca-Cola since our beloved SURGE. While only
time will tell the success of Vanilla Coke, the launch brings up
an interesting question. With another new product vying for shelf
space, will Coca-Cola or its bottlers discontinue an existing product,
or is this simply an add-on to what they already have?
A major concern for us at SaveSURGE.org is that
this could further damage the availability of SURGE. In my area,
Vanilla Coke is only available in 20oz. bottles and so far has not
affected any other Coca-Cola products. However, SURGE's cousin,
Citra, has been getting more and more scarce in recent months. Perhaps
Citra will be the victim of Vanilla Coke once it becomes available
in cans and 2 liter bottles.
Have you seen any products disappear and replaced
by Vanilla Coke? Let us know at surge@savesurge.org
Well, that about does it for another edition of the SaveSURGE News.
Remember to visit stores and restaurants that serve SURGE!!!!
Sincerely,
Eric Karkovack
