SaveSURGE News

Greetings friends of SURGE and welcome to the 122nd edition of SaveSURGE News! We fight for SURGE because SURGE can’t fight for itself.

You can join the fight to bring our beloved citrus soda back from the grave by giving our friends at Coca-Cola a call toll-free at 1-800-GET-COKE. Tell them you want SURGE!

Is Coke Opening the ‘Vault’?
Our friends on the SaveSURGE.org Bulletin Board love a good rumor. They had plenty to love this week as rumors circulated about a possible new citrus beverage from Coca-Cola called “Vault”.

As the story goes, Coca-Cola was allegedly testing this new product in a Rochester, NY mall. There were 4 flavor variations, including one that was said to taste like SURGE, only stronger!

SaveSURGE.org has done some research and spoke with someone who has ties to our favorite beverage company. While our source has no specific knowledge of Vault, we were told that there is still a possibility that it exists. These tests are often limited to just a few select locations and Coke wouldn’t make it public outside of those areas.

A check with the US Patent & Trademark Office website shows that Coca-Cola has no trademark on the name Vault.

So as of this writing, there is no official information regarding the existence of Vault. Stay tuned to SaveSURGE.org for the latest developments.

12 Pack Auctioning for Over $100
A long-expired 12 pack of SURGE is once again fetching a huge price on eBay. At press time it was at $107.50 but with more than 2 days of bidding remaining, there’s no telling how high it will go. The auction is set to close on Sunday, November 14, 2004.

As far as we know, the record for a 12 pack of SURGE is $152.50 and was set back in 2003. The record for any piece of SURGE memorabilia was $280.00 for a “uniform shirt” earlier this year.

Check out the 12 pack:

No Site Updates 11/14-21
SaveSURGE.org will not be updated from Sunday, November 14 – Saturday, November 21, 2004. I will be on vacation in sunny Mexico and will blissfully be away from the computer! Also, SaveSURGE News will not be published during the week.

Still, enjoy the bulletin board and you might even take this opportunity to check out some of our archives. SURGE fans have made so many great contributions to the site that it may take you that entire week to see them all!

Poll Results – SURGE Fest
The latest SURGE Poll asked you: If there were a SURGE Fest party in Atlanta in 2005, would you be interested in attending?

70.5% - Yes
15.2% - Unsure
14.1% - No

Total Votes: 85

The idea of a SURGE Fest has been brought up by Hall of Famers RMJ and Drew Bizzell over on the SaveSURGE.org Bulletin Board. While it’s too early to tell if and when it will happen, it’s good to know that there is some interest in the idea. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.

That’s all the time we have for this week. Thanks for your continued support and I’ll see you all the week of 11/21!

Sincerely,

Eric Karkovack
