SaveSURGE News

Hello SURGE fans and welcome to the 120th edition of SaveSURGE News! As always, we’re fighting to save the soda you love.

We ask that you help us in our fight by giving our friends at Coca-Cola a call toll-free at 1-800-GET-COKE and request that SURGE be brought back to your town.

Coke Says SURGE Syrup No Longer Available
Hank tells the truth!Coca-Cola has recently admitted that SURGE syrup concentrate is no longer being produced by the company. While we at SaveSURGE.org have known this for quite some time, we are glad to see that Coke is now admitting to it.

It was discovered that Coca-Cola’s virtual website rep Hank will now reply to questions about SURGE by saying, "Syrups and concentrates for SURGE are no longer being produced by The Coca-Cola Company". As many of you know, previously both Hank and Coke’s customer service center claimed that the syrup was still being made and that product decisions rest solely with bottlers.

Even calls to 1-800-GET-COKE are a little different these days. I placed a call to request that SURGE be brought back this week and was pleasantly surprised that the customer service rep did not try to refer me to my local bottler as they have done for the past few years. Instead, she cheerfully took my zip code and said that she’d share my request with those who make product decisions.

Coca-ColaAs strange as this may sound, I feel that this is another step in the right direction for the SaveSURGE movement. Perhaps SURGE fans have made Coke rethink their policy regarding their informing consumers about the status of their products.

As I stated earlier, we have known for quite some time that SURGE syrup wasn’t being produced. It is absolutely refreshing (although not as refreshing as an ice-cold SURGE) to hear Coca-Cola tell us the truth on this matter.

It’s very important that we continue to make those calls and write those letters. We must continue to let Coca-Cola know that there is a place in our hearts for that fully loaded citrus soda.

Hunter’s SURGE Song
Hunter pictured on leftSURGE fan Hunter has recorded an excellent new song in honor of his favorite soda. “I Want to Believe” is an outstanding industrial-sounding song that contains some raucous beats and some great samples to remind us of SURGE’s good ole’ days.

The song is 2:35 in length and is available for listening in Real Audio format. Thanks to Hunter for creating this great song!

Poll Results – A Fully Loaded Question
The latest SURGE Poll asked you: How interested are you in a possible return of SURGE?

94.2% - Extremely interested
3.8% - Not at all interested
1.9% - Mildly interested

Total Votes: 105

Ok, so it’s not like we expected anything but “Extremely interested” to win. Sometimes you just have to throw an obvious one out there! The interest is there and its up to us to make it happen. Let’s bring it back!

That’s all the time we have for this week. Thank you SURGE fans!

Sincerely,

Eric Karkovack
