Hello once again SURGE lovers and welcome to the 109th edition of SaveSURGE News! With each issue, we grow just a little bit stronger.
We fully recommend that you give our friends at Coca-Cola a call toll-free at 1-800-GET-COKE and request that SURGE be brought back immediately.
Sightings Report
There were no new SURGE Sightings listed since the last edition of SaveSURGE News.
We did receive word from a SURGE fan that our beloved soda was found in a fountain at the Preble County Fair in Ohio which closes on Saturday 8/7. Ohio residents better check it out!
Sadly, there were 2 deletions in Chino, CA & Cleveland, OH.
Currently, there are 62 SURGE Sightings listed. Thanks to all of you who look out for SURGE wherever you go!

Fans Go Without Soda Until SURGE Comes Back
A number of SURGE fans on the SaveSURGE.org Bulletin Board decided to go without soda – at least until their favorite one comes back! Some have even pledged to drink only water. Talk about dedication!

i3Productions Back Online – New Logo Info
As you may remember, back in October 2003 a brand-new logo for SURGE was discovered. See it at:
http://www.savesurge.org/surge/special_whatitcouldbe.shtml
The logo was produced by Marko over at i3Productions (www.i3productions.com). He was kind enough to answer a few questions about the logo back then. He told us that the logo was considered “spec work” – meaning that it was to be used as an example only. In the coming months, i3’s website was taken down and we never did hear anything more about the logo (although it created quite a buzz at the time).
Recently, SURGE fan Joe (aka oTis), discovered that i3’s website was back online and so he decided to write to Marko regarding that now-famous logo.
Here is what Marko had to say:
“The work was done early last year as part of a creative capabilities pitch only. It was presented by another agency that I work(ed)…for while I freelanced with them. Coca-Cola never asked for the Surge brand to be re-designed or, to my knowledge, looking for a new look for Surge. The project was to pick any brand and segway that into what we thought would be a great transitional consumer promotion.
I could have picked any one of their brands to do an overhaul. I chose Surge because in my research of a couple of Coca-Cola's brands I felt, with it's loyal following, it might need a "Surge" of inspiration back into the brand.
The look got a good response but that was it. Coca-Cola felt the idea was good but not in their best interest to pursue a creative overhaul of the brand.
I'll put it back on the site for people to see. Maybe if people like it enough they can make their voices heard to the people at Coca-Cola! Even if this isn't the look it couldn't hurt for fans of Surge to make their voices heard! One man makes a splash; A million make a tidal wave!”
Unfortunately this means that i3 was not hired by Coca-Cola for this project as we initially assumed. Rather, Marko created this logo as a means of starting up a new business relationship with Coke.
Thanks to Joe & Marko for their help!
Love through Pictures and Words
There were great additions to both our For the Love of SURGE and Letter Archive sections this week:
Joe (aka hoboonaleash) shares some pictures of his SURGE & Citra collection. He also included a few bonus materials. One word for you: Surtra!
Check it out at: http://www.savesurge.org/surge/joe_collection.shtml
Cathy took the time to write an outstanding letter to Coca-Cola about her favorite soda. She tells about her recent experience with dnL and also shares a dream she had about SURGE.

Poll Results – Bush by a Nose
The latest SURGE Poll asked you: Who's your presidential duo?
37.9% - Bush/Cheney
36.2% - Kerry/Edwards
17.2% - Karkovack/Lund as a 2 headed presidential machine
8.6% - Nader/Whoever
Total Votes: 116
I knew they said Nader would take votes away from Kerry but they said nothing about Avery & I doing the same!
That’s all the time we have for this week. Thank you all for your continued support!
Sincerely,
Eric Karkovack
