How You Can Help: Letter Archive

Ralph's Letters

To whom it may concern,

My name in Ralph Daniel and i live in Hoquiam, Washington. I am writing this letter to you in regards to the soda that we know and love as surge. I am aware that it is the bottlers decision as to what they wish to bottle and that the bottlers and businesses can still order the syrup for surge but most places are not aware of this or they wish to follow other bottlers. I would also like to point out a few reasons as to why surge should once again be bottled. In my area as well as others we have seen the citrus sodas that coke produces slowly disappear. In my area 20oz. bottles of Citra were discontinued about a year ago. Soon after that mello yello was pulled off shelves and more recently Citra in 12 packs has disappeared from stores. My friend and I have been lucky enough to purchase 50+ 12 packs of Citra and have plans to buy more. Now that Citra and Mello Yello are gone the only citrus soda left is Fresca and this leaves coke pretty much open in the citrus department. My next reason for bringing back surge is that coke boasts its loyal tab followers and still produces this product in limited quantities. Surge also has a loyal following that has accumulated faster and is most likely larger than tab. our meeting place, www.savesurge.org is where we talk about various things on the massage boards, find surge sightings near us, get new updates on surge news, and print out flyers and business cards. With over 70,000 visits to the site there are thousands of people that would love to see surge come back and that would buy massive amounts of this soda. I encourage you to visit the site for yourself and see what the surge community has created. Enclosed is a flyer to the site that we post and hand out wherever we go. savesurge.org has also received national attention from places like USAToday.com, KLAS-TV Las Vegas, Beverage Spectrum Magazine, 1-800-get-coke, and most coke bottlers. Maybe if produced only as a seasonal item once or twice a year to satisfy our thirst for our favorite “fully loaded citrus soda” or on a limited scale as in either bottles or cans or even more fountain locations. Other people across the U.S. including me would love to see surge come back in any form. I'm not sure what else i can say about how many people love surge or hoe much we love it. I hope that this letter will be forward to the appropriate people at coke and that i would get a response to this letter. Once again i encourage you to visit www.savesurge.org and i thank you for your time.

This is the one I wrote to Coke bottlers across Washington:

To whom it may concern,

My name is Ralph Daniel and I live in Hoquiam, Washington. I am writing this in regards to the Coca Cola product that we know as Surge. I am asking that you do everything in your power to continue bottling and sending surge to distribution centers. If needed I will continue to write and will go as high as the president of Coca Cola. There are many of us “surge lovers” out there all around the U.S. Me and my friend have resorted to paying up to nine dollars for a can and fifty eight dollars for a twelve pack of it off of ebay. We are very serious about bringing it back in full force. I am a loyal Coca-Cola product drinker with my favorites being Citra and Vanilla Coke and will continue even if Surge is not brought back although if it was it would be my one and only pop. That is why I urge you to bring back Surge.

If you need more enticing than this please visit savesurge.org and you will see how many people love surge. We are having to save up meager stockpiles and that is no way to need to drink Surge. I would also like to point out that there is a online petition to save surge and bring it back to store shelves where it belongs! I hope that you will respond to this and that I will not get some automated response. Enclosed is the savesurge.org flyer that me and my friend are passing out. Thank you for your time.

And this is the one I sent to my local 7-11 franchiser:

To the owner of the Hoquiam/Aberdeen 7-11’s,

I am writing this in regards to the product we know as surge. I am asking that you do everything in your power to bring surge back to 7-11. I know that it is not possible to get it in cans,12 packs, or bottles so I ask you to try to get it in fountain or slurpee form. Me and a friend of mine are trying to get surge back on store shelves, fountains, and slurpee machines where it belongs. I have also written a letter to the Coca-Cola bottler in California about surge. I am writing to you and not other convenience stores because me and my friends are very big fans of 7-11 mostly because of slurpee machines and we would see it as a great accomplishment in the fight to bring back surge if the 7-11 stores across the harbor (particularly the Hoquiam one) were to carry this great drink again. I have enclosed a savesurge.org flyer and would encourage you to visit this site to see how many people love surge. I would appreciate a response and would like to thank you for your time.
