How You Can Help: Letter Archive

Hunter's Letter

Hunter wrote an e-mail to Coca-Cola's customer service department:

Dear Coca Cola Representatives, bottlers, CEOs, or some automated service,

Every day goes by, and I think to myself, where is Surge? This is a drink that not only represents an entire generation, but is also a representation of what Coca Cola stands for. When people think of soda, Surge is always the drink that will come to mind, which ultimately comes back to you. Don't mind me bragging, but Surge is a perfect soda in so many ways. Not only do I feel it was unnecessary to pull Surge out of the Coca Colas Soda line-up, I think it was a mistake. The soda is not where the lack of selling came about. It was your advertising. I am currently studying a bit of advertising, and from knowing the history of the soda, I am very aware of the issues it had. Coca Cola never gave the beverage a chance. It being so young (roughly 4 years) didn't even have time to settle. It was like tossing a young child away because it didn't live up to your expectations. This is no way to treat anything. Now when people hear the word Surge, it brings back so many memories. People's first reaction is always, "what happened to that drink?" This is where you come in. You never finished the Surge story. Surge is like an unfinished book, collecting dust in a basement. Please whoever this email is to, finish that book. For the fans. Please be aware that I am not writing this email for just myself. There are 1,000s of die-hard SURGE drinkers everywhere! Thankfully there is a website, www.SaveSurge.org where the masses can gather to fight for what is ours. thank you for your time.
