7 Question Interview with Dan
Dan is a longtime member of our community who has proven himself to be among the most dedicated SURGE fans out there. Whether he's creating logos or helping keep our community strong on the Bulletin Board, his passion for SURGE always shines through and helps to inspire others. We sat down with Dan to discuss his induction into the Hall and his feelings about Vault:
1. How do you feel about being inducted into the SaveSURGE.org Hall of Fame?
It's really a great honor to be inducted in the SaveSURGE Hall of Fame. It's great to be recognized with some of the biggest SURGE lovers in the world. It's also very cool to be inducted (so close to) SaveSURGE's 4th birthday.
2. What makes SURGE your favorite soda?
There are so many memories associated with SURGE from when I was younger. SURGE also had such a unique taste, it was unlike any other soda, especially citrus sodas.
3. Many people visit SaveSURGE.org but only a special few decide to get involved in our community as much as you have. What made you go that extra mile?
I really wanted SURGE back! It's as simple as that. Mountain Dew just doesn't cut it for citrus sodas and nothing at the time tasted anything like SURGE.
4. Describe how you felt when you realized that SURGE was no longer available in bottles and cans.
I honestly didn't know until about a year later. In late 2000, I stopped buying SURGE for a little while, then bam, SURGE was no longer available anywheres. I was pretty mad, but didn't really think about it for about 2 years until something reminded me of it.
5. How did you feel when you found out that SaveSURGE.org was trying to bring it back?
A story can best tell this one: In mid-2002, I was at a local college for some kind of baseball clinic, I was walking around and saw something that caught my eye, it was a one of the SURGE stand up coolers, I walked up to it to see if there was any SURGE in it, since I hadn't had any for years, and unfortunately saw just Gatorade. When I got home, I wanted to find out what happened to SURGE, so I did some Googling and found SaveSURGE.org, I was amazed to find a big community looking to get SURGE back. A few days later I went somewhere and had a SURGE sighting, I immediately logged onto SaveSURGE.org and submitted it, ever since then, I've checked the site daily.
6. What are your thoughts regarding Vault? Have you tried it yet, and if so, do you consider it a victory for our community?
Since Vault isn't available in Connecticut, I immediately went on eBay and purchased 7 bottles of the green nectar of the gods. I got it in about 3 days later and waited for it to get cold (harder than waiting the 3 days for it to come), I was so amazed at the taste of SURGE. I'm hoping Connecticut's bottlers start to carry it for the February launch.
7. Besides SURGE, what are you other hobbies?
I love rock climbing, playing pool, golfing, politics, baseball, computers and listening to music. I'm also trying to teach myself guitar [not going too great ;)].
